For years, at least it feels like, the Seattle Seahawks have been powered by their stellar defense and above average offense. And while Russell Wilson has been one of the top QBs in the entire NFL for years now, it seems as though he hasn’t had to carry the burden completely ever. Yet, after an offseason that included the departures of Sherman, Chancellor, Avril, and Bennett, it all but seems that this team will run through Wilson and what he can put together game in a game out. Those four defensive leaders are now gone, and Wilson faced that possibility last season when he was tasked with half a year without Seattle’s finest. But more than ever, it feels like Wilson is simply… All Alone.
Woah. |
On offense, it has always been felt that Russell Wilson had
to make magic with minimal weapons and an offensive line made out of sticks and
bones. But it was always okay because you knew the defense could keep the other
team in check until Wilson figured it out and could get it done no matter the
weapons and the line. Now, it feels as though “DangerRuss” is going to have to
put it all together if he wants his team to succeed in a division that has greatly
improved. The 49ers, Cardinals, and especially the Rams have become teams to watch
and have made the Seahawks a borderline wild card team in the NFC. The superstar
who Wilson is can win games with his arm and his legs, but it just comes to the
point where it may not be enough being alone.
This offseason, they did lose all those defensive studs, but
also lost TE Jimmy Graham who became a fantastic weapon for Wilson the past couple
of seasons. Wilson will however have Doug Baldwin as always to be his number
one option at the WR position, but then it has become cloudy. Brandon Marshall
was signed this offseason, but at the age of 34, he is a shell of his former
Pro Bowl self. Russell Wilson has the abilities to make absolutely any
situation work, but they will need to put up so many points that if they plan
to make the playoffs, Wilson will have to be the league’s MVP to do so.
Seattle will be trailing the Rams this season in the
standings almost guaranteed, just like last season, but I do believe that the
Seahawks can make plenty of noise as usual as long as the versatile Pro Bowler
in Russell Wilson continues to be better and better every season. Last year, a
lot felt that he could be the MVP for the league, now he will just have to prove
that he is certainly a top QB in the league, and even more so, a leader. He has
forever been looked to for so much being the Seahawks QB through their incredible
run, and this year will be the biggest year of his career, through failure or
success.
Russell Wilson is alone, but he has the ability to make Seattle
a playoff team once again.
So, what do you think? Do you think Wilson has it in him to
will such a team to the playoffs this year? Or will it be too much for a star
like him?
I believe they will be a 6 win team if that, call me crazy but who do they have to keep them afloat besides wilson?
